Best time of year to schedule your Couples Shoot?

Yep, you probably guessed it already ! The most popular time of the year is summer but let me talk you though some pros and cons, as well as giving you some other ideas to think about.

Why would you not want the gorgeous summer sunshine beating down on your face when you're in your floaty, flower print dress feeling great ??!

Let me tell you, the sun is a photographers nightmare. Shadows, shadows and more shadows. Let's not forget about the squinting that it forces you to do meaning you are looking like you cant see properly! In theory it sounds fabulous but if you're planning a summer shoot remember to take guidance from your photographer when it comes to the best locations. Allowing a photographer to help you choose the location enables them to pick somewhere with possible shade to get those special snaps.

Of course Summer is always the best time for photos, it gives you practically unlimited daylight hours and light bright and airy photos (my fav), whilst allowing all the detail to shine through...but what about Autumn, Winter and Spring?

By September, fields are being cut , crops are being harvested, and other than a lot of tractors on the road you will notice a lot of muddy looking fields as they are sowing new fields of crop. Your best bet is to wait until mid fall in November when the leaves that have turned brown are landing on the floor and at least you can use them as a confetti style throw within your photoshoot. My favourite location for autumn is the woodland around The Wrekin in Telford, Shropshire.

By winter, the nights are growing longer, days are limited to daylight and it means the only availability for most couples outside of working hours is a weekend or mornings. Unless we are blessed with snow, a frosty morning is a great way to make the most of the winter weather for your photoshoot but certainly not my preferred chosen time of the year. If you can wait until Spring/Summer I'd support that decision 100%!!
